NCSBN’s products and services are provided to the nursing community and other allied health professions and are intended to contribute to the body of nursing knowledge and the science of regulation.
In addition to conducting its own research studies by addressing some of today’s most important nursing practice issues, NCSBN produces a wide variety of publications including books, white papers, brochures and research briefs that focus on the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN Examinations, as well as health care issues and activities affecting nursing. These publications present in-depth information and best practice techniques to enhance perspective and contribute to the nursing knowledge base. These publications are available for download free of charge from the NCSBN website, www.ncsbn.org. An online library of resources and tools also includes 64 videos that count among its catalog subjects such as nursing licensure explained for new nurses, professional boundaries in nursing, substance use disorder in nursing, the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and NCLEX. Additionally, recorded webinars, toolkits and presentations are available for download. NCSBN has distributed more than 3 million outreach brochures free of charge to both the nursing community and the public at large. Distributed to more than 5,500 hospitals, long-term care facilities, nursing schools, associations, organizations and consumer groups in the U.S., Canada and overseas, the brochures are part of NCSBN’s extensive offerings for nurses and consumers that include posters, videos, books, research briefs, white papers and position statements.

Launched in 2010, the JNR is the official journal of NCSBN. Published quarterly, it is peer-reviewed, academic and professional journal that features scholarly articles that advance the science of nursing regulation, promote the mission and vision of NCSBN, and enhance communication and collaboration among nurse regulators, educators, practitioners and the scientific community. The journal supports evidence-based regulation, addresses issues related to patient safety, and highlights current nursing regulatory issues, programs, and projects in both the U.S. and the international community. NCSBN’s goal is to develop and share knowledge related to nursing and other health care regulation across continents and to promote a greater awareness of regulatory issues among all nurses.
